In Need of Solace

After working all day in the public, I need some comfort, a good dose of Sunday Solace! While at work today, the serenity prayer kept ringing in my head. Maybe it was to keep me calm and positive throughout my day. I kept hearing  it:

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Prayer makes a difference and I find solace in it. Here's a poem entitled, "The Difference Prayer Makes."

       I got up early one morning and rushed right into  the day, I had so much to accomplish that I didn't take time to pray.
       Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task; "why doesn't God help me?" I wondered. He answered: "You didn't ask."
       I wanted to see joy and beauty----but the day toiled on, gray and bleak; I wondered why God didn't show me, he said, "but you didn't seek."
       I tried to come into God's presence, I used all my keys at the lock; God gently and lovingly chided: "my child you didn't knock."
       I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day; I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.

When you are alone in your day pray. When you are having a hard time pray. It helps. Take time to journal tonight on this topic: Is your emotional life fairly even or full of peaks and valleys? What about your spiritual life? If you're emotional and spiritual life are inconsistent add prayer to your life.

Tonight on OWN Network Joel Osteen sits down with Oprah for Lifeclass! Here is a sneak peak:
Don't miss it tonight at  9pm! Hope you find solace in this post, I did!
