Truth Is... The Family Business was a darn good book. The truth also stands that I'm glad my family doesn't have a business like theirs. Well...at least I think our family business isn't like the Duncans'....
So let's get to it with our final thoughts on the craziness that unfold in the last few chapters and make our predictions for the sequel.
Junior was the family member whose life we didn't delve into as much as the others. What did see from his is that he holds it down. He will kill, scheme, and maneuver his way to find the truth for his family. Kind of makes me wonder why he didn't put up more of a fuss to have a bigger leadership role. Do you think Junior was stupid for not wanting a larger leadership role, considering all he does for the family? Will he eventually change his mind? What types of secrets do you think Junior is hoarding?
Like Junior, Vegas was the most mysterious of them all. I really would like to know what LC had Vegas do for him to be locked up. And why does this man have his kids taking the fall for all his wrongdoings. LC has made me not like him in some ways. One thing that kind of made me second guess Vegas' actions is the way that Maria just suddenly fell in love with him after a conjugal visit...Could Maria be trying to set up the Duncan family or does Vegas have something up his sleeve? What were your overall feelings about Vegas? Would you like to see more or less of him in the future? Do you think he'll have a more active role come the sequel?
These other children aside from Rio have some serious issues to deal with in this next book. But first let's talk about Rio. Although LC sent him to die and manipulated his own son because of his lifestyle choices that doesn't make kind of ethical. I'm just glad Rio caught on while he was out in L.A. Things definitely could have been worse. How do you think this experience has changed Rio? Will LC, Orlando, and the rest of the family think twice about what Rio can contribute to the business here on out? If you were Alejandro and your child was killed would you have kept Rio hostage (so to say) too? I for one, would like for Chippy to pop her titty out that boy mouth and let him be a man! Things could get real interesting with Rio in the next book. Like maybe he'll get beau and bring him around the family....
Let's see whose next...I know, how about Mrs. London Duncan-Grant! This one right here surprised me. I knew she was feeling unloved by Harris and he was beating on her, bet never did I expect for her to go have an affair and with some random dude that came to her rescue on the street....com'on son!? From the get I knew it had to be a set-up. Tony was too adamant about them seeing each other and didn't care that she was married. Not cool..not cool at all. I would rather London had told her brothers about Harris slapping her than for her to go have an affair. Look at all the trouble it has caused and some consequences we still don't know of yet (i.e. the baby in her belly)...didn't see that coming either. And if you gon have an affair why would you use protection???? Stupid heffa! What do you make of London's affair with Tony? Was she wrong for sleeping with him? Or was she just a woman scorn and doing it out of spite? Was sweet, innocent Mariah's kidnapping her fault? Were you surprised by the Italians involvement? I wasn't, that fool Tony even gave her a clue about his family business when they were in bed together. Any mob-boss/drug dealers/king-pins daughter should know better. Whose baby is London carrying, Tony's or Harris'? If it is indeed Tony's child how do you think London will feel about killing the father of her child? Will that be the end of London and Harris?
Speaking of Harris ole snobbish self. I thought he was really gonna take LC out! The whole time I was reading, I'm like the sequel will be about Harris' betrayal and him leading the Italians....The family tie thing was a good twist to the plot. What did you think of Harris' family tie to Sal Dash? Will his family tie haunt him in the future? Considering the new responsibilities LC gave Harris with the conglomerate, do you think he will assume more control with "Duncan Motors"? I don't know about you but I still believe Harris is hiding something else. Either there is another baby mama out there, a mistress that's hiding real well, he seeing prostitutes like Orlando, or he on the down low...What do you make of Harris and the lipstick on his shirts and the sneaking around?
Orlando is that middle child that wants to be better than his big brother but be just like him. He is the son that wants all the younger siblings look up to him and come to him for advice. Unfortunately for him, I don't think any of his siblings will consult him without being told from another sibling to go to him...I will say he handled things better than I expected, especially the way he stood up to his family about his woman! Lol. Told that girl was playing him....Do you think LC ever intended on giving up leadership to the family? Or do you think he was just trying to see which kid would really step up to the challenges? What are your thoughts on Ruby? I mean is it even really Orlando's baby? Do you think Maria and her brother have anything to do with Ruby's set up?
Last but certainly not least...the hell raiser of the bunch, Ms. Paris.....This girl is more of a mess than her sister. She killing folk, sleeping with them, then killing some more, disobeying orders, and carrying on...like what is wrong with her? Now she's pregnant! Whose's baby do you think Paris is carrying, Miguel's or Trevor's? Either way it's messed up because their both dead! And when their families find out all hell is going to break loose! I can see Alejandro sending his men to kidnap the baby from the hospital and a turf war breaking out. Then if the baby is Trevor's his mother will probably die but they will sue for custody and expose the family. I would like to see it be Trevor's baby...their already tied to the Italian mobsters no need to stay in bed with the Mexicans too...but now with this Ruby-Orlando thing their in too deep with the Jamiacans as well...shoot! They can't catch a break! Which family would make a better storyline Trevor's or Alejandro? Or will LC make her abort the baby to lessen drama?
I for one know that it is extremely too much going on! And what about poor Uncle Lou! Does he have any kids? Cause if he does, I can see vengeance on the rise....My biggest prediction is that Maria will be pregnant with Vegas baby and Chippy will die happy with a house full of grand babies. Lol! Final predictions?

In the beginning, I thought he was dumb for not wanting the position, but now? Seeing what this family business is all about? Its a dangerous job, one wrong decision and things could be done. I wouldnt want that type of responsibility either.
ReplyDeleteThere definitely should be more of Vegas. I want to know how LC got him in prison. Now thinking about the entire book, Carl W left a lot of lose ends about the characters in the book and he definitely need to elaborate it on it all in this next book.
I think Rio is a whole new person, after the experience he had in Cali. And for that I think the family especially LC would have a brand new respect for him now. Now whether or not Rio would want to be involved in the business like that again is waaayyy up in the air, I think. lol But I think LC came to a realization about how he treated his son throughout that mess he got everybody into that he will treat Rio just like the rest of his kids. And think there should be a lot more of rio in the next book, he is funny. lol
London, lol well I think she just needed attention. Her marriage was failing and she felt as though she need to get back her husband and have a feeling of boldness and independency and she found her outlet through him. She was tired of not being loved. And I'm gone go out on a limb and say the baby is actually Harris'.

Thats the other lose end, the connection with Harris family and Sal Dash. I asked a long time ago about Harris' family and where they were at in all of this.
And another lose end, Harris' affair. That was never elaborated upon. Yup Carl Weber got some major explaining to do.
I'm still confused about Tony!
I think LC did have plans on giving up the ownership only because things have always gone so smoothly at the dealership and he figured that one of his kids could take it over with no problems and he could "retire" just like everyone else at his age.
I think Paris is carrying Trevor's baby. And trevor is another lose end as well, they never closed the gap on how trevor died in her arms,but left it on the part where she jumped out the window and he eventually jumped out the window after her.
Bottom line cant wait until this next book! and this tv show! lol
