Truth is.....Its all about the wives...or is it?

I meant to post this yesterday but for some reason, could not remember what I was supposed to be blogging about but now I remember :)

I came in from work the other day and this show called Preachers' wives was on. I sat there for a minute and watched to see what it was all about, and I didn't like it and began to think what has tv come to? All these first ladies were talking about is their designer purses, and their designer shoes. I never thought that any first lady would be so materialistic. I was amazed, confused, and a little disgusted.

There is preachers' wives, basketball wives, real housewives, mob wives, Hollywood wives. But as we watch these shows, do you realize that wives come second, that each title suggest that the wives are behind the husbands or often times its ex-husbands, that this would not be a show if they were not a wife to someone of some type of relevance? Is it just me or there's something wrong with that picture.? I'm all for being behind your husband, supporting him every step of the way BUT putting yourself in a category that was made upon solely upon your husband's success doesn't seem right to me, almost shame. Plus there is a lot of negativity  that comes along with "_____" wives. We all know that shows, especially reality shows will not survive unless there is drama or fighting or arguments. So that is what all of these shows consist of, negativity instead of empowerment, love and support. But that wouldn't make a show right?

And my last point, we know that these shows are bad, are demeaning, are often times ridiculous, but yet we still watch them and are still engaged. Granted the only show I watch is Real Houseives of Atlanta, and I admit that it is a guilty pleasure of mine, and I cant even tell you why I watch it knowing the negavity that is associated with women, and the power that women hold?

Truth is ...Why do we watch and support negativity and stupidity?
