I remember driving in the car weeks ago, and the song "Take me to the king" came on the radio. Im like wow who is this, it kind of sounds like Tamela Mann, and guess what? It definitely was. I decided to feature her today because not only do I admire her voice so much, but her journey and how BIG she has become in this industry. She just performed on the BET Awards, she also performed at Chicago's gospel festival in which I missed (im still mad my sister went and didnt even think to call me to see if I wanted to go..but thats besides the point).
But to see her now and how far she has come is amazing. As she developed her role as Cora Simmons in Tyler Perry plays, I remember going to these plays and watched how she was so comfortable in her skin, how vibrant her personality was, and what a comedic actress she was, but to see her on doing big things now is a great thing!
It also makes me think about how it was Tyler Perry who gave her this opportunity to launch her career. Although a lot of people have a lot of negative things to say about Tyler Perry and the work he produces, which I appreciate about him the most is the fact that he gives soooo many people opportunity to soar. He gives many actors and actresses a chance when a lot of other producers may not. So I thank Tyler Perry for that. I mean look at China Anne McClain shes a hit star on the Disney channel now.
I didnt mean to turn this into inspirational monday but as I read the bios of people like Tamela Mann and China McClain as well as others, what I see is the JOURNEY. Although, you may not be where you want to be now, things don't have to stay the same, they will not stay the same, and if you stay in the game, continue to work towards your dream, life will get better, opportunities will arise, happiness will come, but you have to start some where, and things don't happen overnight. That is the journey and you have to go through the journey to get to your ultimate destination. Sometimes I lose sight of that and wanted to make sure that you didn't either.
