What LIES in Sports

(Truth Is...)

Tonight Oprah Winfrey's most talked about interview will air on her rating seeking channel, OWN. You can probably sense my frustration in the opening statement. If you've paid any attention to any media outlet this week you've heard the over saturation of information about Oprah sitting down with Lance Armstrong so we can hear him confess once and for all to taking performance enhancing drugs. We all know he lied, but like the saying goes, once you start telling a lie you need more to cover up the first one you told.

I'm sad to see Lance Armstrong go through this public debacle but he brought it on himself. Years prior he'd been accused and acquitted of using drugs. What lies in sports now is that its okay in a sense for athletes to lies to the public, your fans who adore you. Look at the case of Marion Jones. She lied to a grand jury and served hard time. She was also stripped of her medals, which she won at numerous Olympic Games. Other examples are Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mark McGuire, I mean the list goes on. Why do we allow them to lie to us and then act surprised when we find out the truth and make a big deal out of it?

We may never know? I do know that Manti Teo will never live down this hoax of having a girlfriend who died. Click here to read the story in detail....Teo Hoax

As we dig deeper into the lives of those who entertain us on the field or court, we uncover false truths and find ways to capitalize off of those extremities and lies....

In the words of Teo, "Real eyes, realize, real lies."
