There has been so much going on with the stories of the four when in the book. This week as we finish up the final chapters let's reflect some, shall we...
Which character's situation did you most sympathize with? Whose behavior do you find most frustrating? Whose storyline do you find most satisfying? This could be anyone in the entire book....
What characters do you think we deserve to learn more about? I would love to delve into the life of Tarik (boy has he been through it) or even journey with John Jr or Sparrow or Taylor.....
Would you ever consider joining a women's group like Bernadine, Savannah, Robin, and Gloria were once in? What purpose would the group serve?
Savannah asks Jasper, "How do you measure happiness?" (p. 303). What did you think of his and her responses? What does happiness mean to the other characters in the novel? How do you measure happiness?
Let me know how you feel going into the last chapters/conclusion.....
I think i sympathize the most with Gloria's situation because I've been through many deaths in my family in a short period of time and its soooo hard and to have to deal with that, plus holding down her shop, plus drama with her son and his wife. I feel for her! I find Savannah's behavior most frustrating because she pissed me off when she gave him all that money as well as the fact that she don't even take the time to visit her family and spend time with her mother. I find Robin's life most statisfying. Although I dont agree with some of the things that she does I love the fact that she takes risks, and know how to just have fun and although she has a wild child they do have a good mother daughter relationship and connection.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know a little more about John, and all the young people in the book John jr, taylor, Sparrow, Onika, etc...
Im not exactly sure what Women on the Move did, but I know it had to be something positive but I always wanted to create an organization for women similiar to that. I think sisterhood is an amazing thing and is needed especially through the struggles of every day life.
I think we got different versions of the book because that is page 345 for me but anywho I liked both of their responses. I like how he said feeling calm on the inside and I like how she said giving yourself permission to feel it and cherishing the beauty of right now.
I think my answer would be more like Savannahs though, its about doing what you love no matter what. We spend so much of our lives being forced to do things we dont like to do, that we dont enjoy doing and less times doing what we love to do. Life is too short for us to not live it like we want to!
